Today we did check ins to share our weekends and then be able to jump into beginning week 3 (!). After check ins, we watched the film, “Beyond Beats and Rhymes” a documentary about violence, homophobia, and sexism in hip hop culture. This film was done by Byron Hurt, an individual that grew up immersed in such a culture. It was a really powerful film and we managed to have a short conversation afterwards to review how it had impacted us.
Then, we moved on to preparing a lesson plan to teach the class on Wednesday out of the Flipping the Script curriculum guide. Carl is back again today, and is helping out for everyone to get hands on time with the editing tools in Premiere for PCs and Final Cut Pro for Macs. The class logged all their footage from the short films shot on Wednesday, and there will now be a chance to go back and edit them.
