Health and Media

Following the success of our Peer Health and Media Education Program (PHAME), Just Think is in development of a comprehensive curriculum that will engage students in both media literacy and media production around different health topics.

The curriculum will be geared towards middle and high school students and will focus on issues that directly affect today’s youth. These include:

• Body image and its relationship to media and health choices
• Violence and stress related depression
• Sex education and the media’s impact on sexual behavior
• Drug, alcohol, and tobacco trends
• Connections between nutrition and media consumption

These materials were developed over the last year in Bay Area schools with funding in part by the California Endowment. Stay tuned for the launch of these materials.
