An Edge on Media Education
Middle School Students learn Media at Just Think’s new after school program.
The students were familiarized with the news, encouraged to create their own stories, and to think about certain things that make media effective. They analyzed how news stories are covered and also looked at certain commercials during class. They shared thoughts and observations even teaching each other new things, spotting the techniques used by different commercials. They recently started making their own commercials based around selling a product. They were set to teams and encouraged to create an add around around it. After the story was agreed on, they began shooting their commercials with digital video cameras.
