Summer Intensive Program at SomArts Cultural Center
Bay Area Students Share their views through video production and peer teaching on
Technology Dependence, Sexualization of Young People, and Racial Stereotyping
San Francisco, CA – Just Think, a San Francisco-based media literacy education nonprofit is conducting its 2007 summer Youth Media Educators (YME) program. YME is hosted from July 9th through August 18th at the SomArts Cultural Center in San Francisco. In its third consecutive year this summer’s YME program entitled “Pioneers,” compensates youth interns with $1000 stipends to learn media literacy concepts, media production, peer teaching, and entrepreneurial skills. The youth involved in the program hail from across the Bay Area including students from San Francisco, the East Bay and the Peninsula. “Pioneers” include low-income, at risk and high-functioning autistic students.
